A Delhi-bound Air India flight from Newark was diverted to Stockholm on Wednesday after an oil leak was detected in one of its engines, a senior official said.
A senior director general of civil aviation (DGCA) said the flight, operated by Boeing 777-300ER aircraft, had an oil leak in one of the engines. After the leak, the engine was shut down and the flight later landed safely in Stockholm, the official added.
During the ground inspection, oil was seen leaking from the drain mast of engine two. Another check is in progress. Air India said a flight en route from Newark in the US was diverted to Stockholm, Sweden due to a technical issue.
On Monday, another Air India flight from New York to Delhi was diverted to London due to a medical emergency on board.
